| Community Development follows the YMCA mission of building healthy spirit, mind and body for all by providing programs in various locations throughout the city and offering transportation to Y facilities.
Sometimes called the “branch without walls,” Community Development gives youth a safe place to learn, provides positive adult role models and teaches life-long skills.

Middle School After School (MSAS) program provides a safe, supervised and fun environment for youth in grades 6th-8th in 18 local public middle schools FREE of charge four days a week. View more information
SPLASH provides an opportunity for 2nd graders from local qualifying elementary schools to learn basic life-saving swim skills through a six week program at their local YMCA.
S.T.A.R.S. (Students Together Afterschool for Recreation and Sports) provides 1,800 elementary youth from 12 qualifying elementary schools come to the Central and East YMCA for after school activities (gym, swim and more) once a week. View more information
Job Prep is a training program for youth ages 15-17. Participants learn basic skills such as interviewing, dressing appropriately for a job and financial responsibility.
Y-HIGH (Health Initiative Geared toward High-schoolers) is a program developed for high school youth that encourages students to live an active lifestyle through life-long fitness options.
YWalk is a one-week spring event encouraging everyone to get up and move for 30 minutes each day and develop life-long habits that will promote a healthy lifestyle.
